The Jewels of Desire series is found in the Romance genre. The stories tend to lean toward the steamy end of the genre, just this side of erotic.
How did you come to choose it?
All my books have elements of romance, so it wasn’t a stretch to continue that in the Jewels series.
Why does it appeal to you?
I’m moody. My moods change and shift depending on what I’m working on, so I typically just go with the flow. In the Jewels series it seemed like a fun twist to turn up the heat and see where that took us.
What do you find most challenging about the writing process, and how do you deal with it?
I guess, like most authors, the most challenging thing is to stay focused on the task and not get sucked into other things when I’m supposed to be working. Facebook is my nemesis.
When and where do you do your writing?
I tend to write at night mostly. That’s when the house is quiet and the distractions are at a bare minimum.
What have you learned about promoting your books?
I’ve learned that promotion is where the real work comes in. Writing is a joy for me, promotion is a job.
What are you most proud of as a writer?
I think I’m most proud of the fact that people enjoy my books. You can measure success in so many ways, but for me, it’s about the joy people get when reading something I created.
If you could have dinner with any writer, living or dead, who would it be and what would you talk about?
Oh, there are so many! I think I’d like to pick Stephen King’s brain for a few hours. That would be fun.
About Erica Lucke Dean
After walking away from her career as a business banker to pursue writing full-time,
Erica Lucke Dean moved from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a small tourist town in the North Georgia Mountains, where she lives in a 90-year-old haunted farmhouse with her workaholic husband, her 180 lb lap dog, and at least one ghost.
When she’s not writing or tending to her collection of crazy chickens and diabolical ducks, she’s either reading bad fan fiction or singing karaoke in the local pub. Much like the main character in her first book, To Katie With Love, Erica is a magnet for disaster and has been known to trip on air while walking across flat surfaces.
How she’s managed to survive this long is one of life’s great mysteries.
